不辜负炒作的3种超级食物!

What’s so super about super foods?

I’m sure you’ve heard people talking about super foods.  It may have been the nutritionist who had a segment on the morning news, your health crazed family member or friend, or certainly from ad after online ad. Super foods are loaded with nutrients that will help you look and feel better. However, with all the diet fads that come and go, it’s hard to know which “super” foods live up to the hype. Here are three foods that live up to the super title.  Make them staples of your diet and you will feel super as well.


Almonds 杏仁
If I was only allowed to eat one food to survive on, it would be almonds. They contain all three macronutrients, are loaded with magnesium,
which can help lower blood pressure, contain high levels of vitamin E to help keep your skin looking good, and contain high levels of antioxidants. The fat in almonds in monounsaturated fat, which has been well studied for their ability to lower LDL cholesterol (the bad kind of cholesterol). This study, along with many others, shows that almonds are likely to have a strong positive impact on body weight, oxidative stress, and inflammation.


Spirulina 螺旋藻
Spirulina is a type of blue green algae that can grow in both fresh water and salt water. Spirulina usually comes in powder or pill form, both versions are equally as nutritious. Spirulina is loaded with B vitamins and the majority of its calories come from protein. 

Clinical trials have shown that spirulina prevents muscle damage due to exercise induced stress. Some evidence is now showing that spirulina has anti cancer properties as well. Bottom line: start taking 3 grams of spirulina daily.


Blackberries   黑莓
This could really be (insert your favorite berry here) as all berries can claim the “super” title. Blackberries are my favorite, so we will just go with that.  Blackberries contain phytonutrients called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins have been shown to get rid of certain free radicals that can lead to cancer. Blackberries are great for your immune system because they are so high in vitamin C. The combination of vitamin C and anthocyanins may also help keep your eyes healthy.

While these are only a few benefits of almonds, spirlina, and blackerries, it is clear that they live up to their super title.  So up, up and away!  Be super.
